Halloween Mani

Happy Halloween Everyone!!!  I'm not the greatest at nail art, but thought I should try some for Halloween...  It's not very complex, but I think it's cute..

Frankenstein and Pumpkins:

I spent days trying to figure out what green to use for Frankenstein's skin and I finally settled on OPI Green-wich Village. lol.  I think it's quite fitting.  The orange I used for the pumpkins was Duri Tangerine Peel and the yellow was Bettina Sunrise.  The white base is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

**Did you attempt some nail art for Halloween?  What did you create??**

Weekly Water Marble 10/30/12

Halloween's almost here, so I knew I'd do a Halloween Marble.  I saw this marble done by Nicole at Nail Polish Wars and totally had to try it myself.  So.. here is my Candy Corn inspired marble..

Weekly Water Marble 10/30/12:

I used all Zoyas for this marble.  I started with a base of Snow White and marbled with Snow White, Arizona and Pippa.  I then topped it off with Out The Door Northern Lights.  I have to apologize for the boo-boo on my index finger.  I wasn't happy with my first attempt on that nail, so after my second attempt, I ripped the tape off my finger a bit too fast and tore some skin right off.. ouch!

**I hope you all have a Happy Halloween and I pray everyone is safe after Hurricane Sandy.  I'm in Ohio and the wind is terrible, so I can't even imagine how bad it is further east.**

Darling Diva Polish.. 3 from the holiday collection

Happy Monday Everyone!!  I'm really excited about today's post!  I have three brand new holiday polishes from Darling Diva Polish!  Each of these polishes was inspired by the classic movie, A Christmas Story.  I've only seen this movie once a few years ago, so I'm not really familiar with the names of these polishes, but they are gorgeous!!!

Soap...Poisoning:

Soap...Poisoning has pastel pink and yellow flake-like glitter in a shimmery milky white base.  It reminds me a bit of China Glaze's Snowglobe with a creamy jelly base.  I have two layers of Soap...Poisoning over OPI Alpine Snow.  It really does remind me of soap and I love pink and yellow together, so this polish gets two thumbs up from me!!

Unbridled Avarice:

Unbridled Avarice has such a gorgeous combination of glitter!!  It contains green, violet, and fuchsia small hex glitters in a clear base.  I chose to layer Unbridled Avarice (one coat) over Sally Hansen Xtreme wear Blizzard Blue followed by topcoat.  Unbridled Avarice could be worn alone with two or three coats.. it's so versatile, almost any colored base would work well also.

Crooked Star:

When I first saw Crooked Star, I was kinda like: "Ugh.. bar glitter"...but after I chose my base (Nails Inc. Kensington) and saw just how beautiful Crooked Star actually is, I fell in love with it!   Crooked Star contains a zillion different colors of bar glitter, some random golden stars, and holo shimmer that's breathtaking when you catch it in just the right light!!  Crooked Star is perfect for the holidays!! I love it!!

**Carrie at Darling Diva creates gorgeous polishes!!  I featured Bazinga in this post I did of some untried indies and it remains one of my favorite polishes!!  Each of these polishes is unique and contains excellent formulas!!  You can purchase Darling Diva Polishes here on Etsy.  The polishes from this collection aren't up now, but I'm sure they will be soon.  Like Darling Diva on facebook here to keep up with new news and shop updates**

Weekend Pink Spam

Happy Weekend!!  I grabbed some of my favorite pinks to share with you today.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I just love pinks in general..

Deborah Lippmann Sweet Dreams:

Wow...Sweet Dreams is stunning!!  It has such a beautiful strawberry pink jelly-like base packed full of golden flakies!!  The formula was kinda goopy, so I added a few drops of polish thinner before application.  Pictured above is three coats of Sweet Dreams followed by topcoat..  It's simply gorgeous.  You can purchase Sweet Dreams and tons of  Deborah Lippmann polishes at Apothica!

SOPI Seeing Pink Elephants:

Seeing Pink Elephants is the perfect bubble gum/pepto pink creme.  It's a little brighter in real life.  I'm such a sucker for pink cremes and when they're as gorgeous and have such an excellent formula as Seeing Pink Elephants, I'm totally in love.  This polish was a birthday gift from my good polish pal, Erika at Polish Fixation.  I have two coats of SPE in the above photo.

Orly Cupcakes and Unicorns over Seeing Pink Elephants:

Cupcakes and Unicorns is from Orly's Flash Glam FX Collection.  Call a polish "Cupcakes and Unicorns" and it's pink & red = I'm sold!!  This one has a pretty pink shimmery base with red bar glitter.  The bar glitter was kinda sparse, so I used two coats in the above pic.  It's girly and fun!!

China Glaze Beach Cruise-r:

I am in love with Beach Cruise-r!!  It's been one of my favorite polishes since I got my hands on it in the summer!  I'm gonna need a new bottle soon!!  Beach Cruise-r is from the Summer 2012 Neon Collection.  I love that it's not too bright and I love the subtle blue shimmer!  This one is a perfect match for my skintone.  I've already worn two pedis with Beach Cruise-r!!  Awww...I miss summertime already!!

Lynnderella Love Potion No 99 over Beach Cruise-r:

I still have so many untrieds in my polish stash and Love Potion No 99 was one of them.  I thought this would look great over Beach Cruise-r and I think I was right!!  Love Potion No 99 is very complex.  Most of the glitters are purple, but layering it over Beach Cruise-r really allows the fuchsia glitter to shine!!  This glitter was quite dense.  I have one coat of Love Potion No 99 layered over Beach Cruise-r, followed by a coat of gelous, then a thick coat of topcoat in the above two pics.

GOSH Flamingo:

GOSH Flamingo was another birthday gift from Erika.  She knows my taste all too well!  :)  Flamingo is another gorgeous bright pink creme.  The formula was kinda thin for a creme, so I used three coats in the above two photos.

**I hope you've enjoyed my "pink spam"...  Have a great weekend!!**

3 from Charm Your Nails

Hey All!!  It's Friday!!  Yee Haw!!  Do you all have big plans or Halloween Parties to attend??  I think I'll just be laying low with the husband this weekend... hopefully I'll have time to try more Halloween Nail Art!  Today I'm sharing three polishes from a new-to-me indie maker on Etsy called Charm Your Nails..

Mal-eficent's Magic:

Mal-eficent's Magic has a really pretty mix of green, purple, and black glitters in a clear base  There is a hint of green shimmer (you can see it in the first pic in direct sunlight).  I have one coat of Mal-eficent's Magic over Gosh Flamingo followed by topcoat.  Application was no problem and the glitter ratio is perfect!

Zombie Princess:

Zombie Princess has a mossy green sheer jelly base containing metallic green hex, pink squares and a few pink bars.  At first, I wasn't sure if Zombie Princess was "buildable", but after three coats, the jelly base appears semi-opaque.  I'm not a huge fan of the base color, but it is named "Zombie Princess" and the base is a "zombie green." lol.  Above is three coats of Zombie Princess followed by topcoat.  The green hex glitters ARE NOT curling.. that's just a reflection.

Instant Gratification:

Instant Gratification is my favorite of these three!  It has such a gorgeous mix of white large hex and bar, purple squares, black squares and hex in a clear base with a pretty pink shimmer!  I have one coat of Instant Gratification layered over China Glaze Sweet Hook (which seems to be my go-to-base lately).  The pink shimmer is really beautiful if you catch it in the right light!

**I'm really impressed with my first three polishes from Charm Your Nails!!  Each one has excellent formula and creative glitter combos!  If you'd like to purchase some polishes from Charm Your Nails, check out Lindsay's Etsy page HERE.  It looks like she's on vacation mode throughout the weekend.  You can also like Charm Your Nails here on facebook.**

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Enkelini Jeepers Creepers and Striping Tape from Born Pretty

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!  We have a week until Halloween, so I should start posting more Halloween Manis!!  Today I have a really gorgeous indie polish called Jeepers Creepers from Enkelini... then I decided to add some striping tape from Born Pretty for a cool effect.  First up is Jeepers Creepers alone..

Enkelini Jeepers Creepers:

Jeepers Creepers has such a gorgeous vibrant orange base!!  The formula is excellent.. it's semi-sheer and packed with black, silver, orange and white glitters.  There is a gorgeous gold shimmer added to the base also.  I have two coats of Jeepers Creepers followed by topcoat in the above pics.  I own a few Enkelini polishes and they are all exceptional!!  If you'd like to purchase Jeepers Creepers or any other Enkelini polish.. check out their Etsy shop!

For some cool stripes, just add some striping tape after your base polish is completely dry.  You can arrange it whichever direction you'd like.  Make sure each piece of tape is attached securely to you nail, then top with black (or whatever color you want).  While the polish is still wet, carefully peel away each piece of tape..

This one didn't turn out too bad and I really like the pattern!!

You can purchase a set of 12 different colored striping tapes on Born Pretty.  They carry tons of great nail art supplies and you can save 10% if you use my code ZR5X31!!  I'll show you different ways of using striping tape in upcoming posts too!!

Weekly Water Marble 10/23/12

Hey All!  It's time for another marble.. yay!!  I had someone suggest China Glaze Strawberry Fields and Custom Kicks in a polish group I'm in on facebook (Hey Nicola!!) and I added Grape Juice just because I generally don't like to marble with just two colors... let's see how they mixed..

Weekly Marble 10/23/12:

We had zero sun the day I did this marble.  I wish I could have captured the shimmer in the sun.  The colors worked nicely together, I just like marbles done with cream polishes more than any other finish.  I like my thumb the most and those dang water bubbles showed up again on my index finger.. grr..

See ya next week with another marble :)

3 from Twenty Seven Polish

Hey Everyone!  Happy Monday!  I have a new Indie line to share with you today.. (well, new to me anyway).  It's called Twenty Seven Polish and here are the three polishes I have to show you...

Merry Mistletoe:

This is my first Christmas polish (for this year anyway).  Christmas seems so far off to me still, but we really only have two months!!  Ah!  Anyway, Merry Mistletoe is made up of white and green hex glitters, red shards, and white bar glitter in a clear base.  I have two coats of Merry Mistletoe over Sally Hansen Green With Envy followed by topcoat in the above pics.  The formula is great and so is the glitter ratio.  I noticed a small "chip" on a piece of the red glitter on my index finger.. I looked through the bottle and couldn't find any more like that one, so I'm hoping it's just a fluke...the glitter doesn't seem to be bleeding and the base is still clear.

Pride:

Pride is such a pretty polish!  I love the matte rainbow square and hex glitter (the purple is my fave)!  I have two coats of Pride over China Glaze Sea Spray in the above three pictures.  There was no problem with application as the glitter applied evenly over each nail... love this one!!

Fairytale:

Fairytale is gorgeous and it's soooo girly!!  All that pink with just a hint of blue is such a gorgeous mix!!  Fairytale is packed full of tons of pink, some silver and a little bit of blue glitter in a clear base.  I chose to wear it on it's own with two coats followed by topcoat, but Fairytale would look great over black or pink too!  This is my favorite polish of the three I've shared with you today!

**You can purchase these polishes plus many more here on Etsy.**
